Scientific Games made a big deal with Don Best to drastically expand their sports betting operation in the US. Don Best contains two data provider companies – Don Best Sports Corporation and DBS Canada Corporation.
The deal will be official by the end of 2018. It’s exciting to see Don Best’s over 20 years of experience integrating its technology with that of Scientific Games. Barry Cottle, SG’s president, shared the company’s ambition to become a one-stop-shop for sportsbook operators.
Right now, Don Best supply the betting data to over 100 sports betting providers across the world. The company has named itself a leader in managing American sporting events and it’s about to help SG get to the fast lane as well.
Scientific Games are currently operating through OpenBet – a sports betting platform live in Delaware, New Jersey, and Mississippi.
NJ Sports Betting Is Expanding
The question of sports betting data ownership has turned into a debate between states and sports leagues. The war has been going on ever since PASPA’s repeal and it’s one of the reasons why Scientific Games are so excited about their newly acquired partner.
Keith O’Loughlin from SG Digital called it a “huge win’ for the company and all of its stakeholders. If the deal does go through, it will significantly firm SG’s spot on the market and possibly expand its jurisdiction.
He also mentioned that SG has already tested how Don Best integrates with the existing platform and confirmed that we can expect a very seamless transition.
SB’s customers could definitely benefit from the acquisition of such a massive real-time data provider like Don Best.
The Sports Betting Market So Far
Scientific Games have been busy striking up partnerships since the summer. This July, they stepped into one with Caesars Entertainment in New Jersey and Mississippi.
Other than Caesars Atlantic City sportsbooks – Bally’s and Harrah’s, Scientific Games can be also found operating in Delaware sports betting.
Not to mention, they cover a big chunk of the online casino market in NJ. With Mississippi added to their list of influence now, SG is stepping firmly in the Northeast side of the country – a footprint that’s gotten even bigger with Don Best involved.
The world has already seen Scientific Games ambitiously trek through the global market and now they’re doing their best to capitalize on the US sports betting expansion.
